Sunday School Charity Event December 2019
St.Gregorios Sunday School had decided to practically teach the children, the importance of charity and visitng the poor and the needy. On this context, children had made small contributions every Sunday during their classes. The amount collected at the end of the year was decided to be contributed to 'New Hope and New Life Orphanage', Perumbakkam on account of Christmas. Parents, Teachers and elders of the church collectively made their additional contributions to make this event more colorful. The following items were offered by the members of the church. 1. Ceiling Fan (3 Nos) - Mr.Paul Varghese 2. Notebooks (25 nos) - Mrs. Anu Sinu 3. Christmas Cake (150 nos) - Mr. Raiju Thomas 4. Scientific Calculator (2nos) - Mr.Cinu Chacko - Well Wisher 5. Bed Sheets (20 Nos) - Mr.Cinu Chacko 6. Sleeping Mat - Mr. Cinu Chacko - Well Wisher 7. Bath Towels - Mr.Rebu Thomas 8. Lunch (150 inmates)- Collected by Children, Parents and elders of the church.
Vicar, Fr.Basil Abraham, gave a Christmas message to the children there. Cultural events and games were conducted under the leadership of Fr. Basil and the teachers and most of the inmates actively participated both in single and groups. Our Sunday School children also participated by singing Carol songs, talking to the inmates, helping in the games etc. Gifts were distributed to the winners of the game collectively by our Vicar and the founder, Mr.Wilson. The Teachers and the elders of our church concluded the event with a Carol Song.

SGYA Perumbakkam Youth Week 2019
St.Gregorios Youth Association has initiated a cleanup activity within the church premises on 16th and 17th November 2019 as part of the JSO Youth Week celebration. The premises of the church was cleaned up removing all kinds of wastes, water logs and making it environment friendly. Soon after the Holy Qurbana, on 17th November, the youth members planted 15 saplings in and around the parking lot of the church. The youth also ensured participation of the entire church congregation, including the church committee, Sunday School and Vanitha Samajam for planting the saplings. Our vicar, Fr.Basil led the event on both these days. Special thanks to Rev. Fr.George Issac, Vicar of Pondichery Church for being a part of the event on Sunday.

The Youth Association members had a joyful and meaningful journey to Shantibhavan on 27.07.2019. All spent quality time with the dear old ones there. The happiness in their hearts could be read from their faces. Hope all enjoyed the experience. A big thanks to all those who participated and others who encouraged and supported us. Basil Achan, the elders of our church and each member of the youth association helped in making the event a grant success. Hope we continue with the same vigour and passion for the future events and activities of the youth association. Perumbakkam, Chennai.

Rev Fr .Basil Abraham, M.Tech, the new Vicar of St.Gregorios JSOC, Perumbakkam. He took charge and celebrated the Holy Mass on 23rd June 2019.

Achen has earlier served as Vicar of St Mary’s Church, Kallar, Munnar; Vicar and Asst Vicar of St Mary’s Church, Kambalikandam and St. Peter’s and St Paul’s Church, Valara. Achan hails from Punnekadu, Kothamangalam.

Jacobite syrian orthodox youth association is the group of youth members who under the apostholic see of anthioch and all the east.

The youth, in general, are active in all areas of the church: as altar boys, choir singers, or leaders in other areas. The youth group's goal is to minister to these young leaders, by creating a place for the youth to fellowship in the Lord, to learn about the Lord, and to grow together in their faith.

Youth Association of Mylapore Diocese is managed under the leadership of Fr.Aby Paul. Diocese Youth Organisation is divided into 3 regional center's - Chennai ,Coimbatore and Secunderabad.
The main mission of Martha Mariam vanitha Samajam to organise prayer groups involving all the women’s of the parish, sing hymns and pray to GOD for their needs and the needs of the church and community similar to the intercession of Holy and Ever Virgin Saint Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. We come together in prayer, singing devotional songs, Bible reading and sharing of Bible messages. All members are involved with many other activities including charity work and yearly retreat. Homemade foods auction are providing a good support to the church, as well as the poor and needy people.

The activities of Martha Mariam vanitha Samajam, compliments the overall functioning of the Church and its various spiritual bodies.

A Sunday school is an institution designed to teach people, usually children, about Christianity. Even though we are away from our native place, it is our responsibility to show up and train up children according to our own believes and traditions. Examples and wise guidance by parents and teachers are very important to grow a child in the knowledge of God from the tender age .

Fr. Siby Paul Kayanadu is the Sunday School Director of Mylapore Diocese.The Sunday Schools in our Diocese are affiliated with Malankara Jacobite Syrian Sunday School Association (MJSSA). A one day seminar for the Sunday school teachers was held on 26th January 2018 at St Thomas JSO Church Anna Nagar. Shri Mathew G Daniel, Manjinikkara conducted Bible class. A quiz competition for the teachers was held at the end of seminar and the winners were given prizes & shields. Prizes were also given to teachers who wrote the best seminar notes.
